Chiang Dao Temple
This was the temple that inspired the setting for Setthapong our Thai monk who is also an astropath. His character is important throughout the series. He is a student of Tearlach and is one of the 3 sons of prophecy. He will play a very big roll in teh 3rd, 4th, and 5th book.

About SIM
About the Author
SIM is the penname used by novelist Jonathon Siminoe whenever he is writing in the Fantasy or Young
Adult genre. Jonathon’s other works are Notes From Manhattan, which was released by University Editions
in 1996, and Echo Pool, published by Bangkok Book House in 2007.
As an educator and coach for the past fifteen years, Jonathon has enjoyed teaching teenagers both the
appreciation of literature and writing about the ideas presented within poetry, novels, film, and short stories.
He taught for 9 years at Gateway High School in Aurora, Colorado. After moving to Bangkok, Thailand, he served as a lecturer at Assumption University for three semesters. He is currently working at Satit Kaset’s International Program teaching writing, English, and basketball.
“I often dream of writing full time, but truthfully my teen characters are always taken from the students I have worked with over the years. Without my connection to my students I really wouldn’t have much to write about. I hope to inspire my students by writing well and showing
them the way to do the same. They certainly inspire me by just being themselves,” Siminoe said. “I believe I have found a home in Satit Kaset’s International Program, because it is a very supportive environment.”
The Journeys of the Astropaths series began as a creative writing prompt Jonathon developed for his students in Colorado. It was at Gateway High, an extremely culturally diverse school with more than 24 languages spoken in the homes of its students, that he had the idea for creating a book series that was international and multicultural.

Asia Books Across from Coffee World
When I first starting re-writing the early chapters of Those Who Hear, a novel which actually was originally written in 1st person and I had to switch to 3rd person, it was at Coffee World in the Mall Bangkapi where I would work. I actually had no intention of publishing the story, but like an inventor who needs to tinker when there is nothing else to do, I found myself drawn to this old story and wanted to see if done correctly. In those days there was a shoe store across from Coffee World, but I usually sat on the railing which faced out across the vast exhibition hall of the mall. Here everything from cars to Chinese food might be being sold on any weekend and the variety of products and the lovely ladies who demonstrate those products was always creative inspiration.
Now Those Who Hear is a published novel and I live far from this mall and make it there very rarely, so of course a fabulous new book store has come in across the hall. Of course Asia Books placed an order for THOSE WHO HEAR last week and so I am very hopeful that this book finds a home, a very temporary one, on the shelves of this lovely new store in my old stomping grounds. If you visit Bangkapi, please visit Asia Books new store and while you are there, pick up a copy of THOSE WHO HEAR. If they don't have it, DEMAND IT be ordered!

Launch Date is Set for ASTROPATH
The mock up of the cover.
Bangkok Book House has announced the release of the first Astropath Journey. THOSE WHO HEAR releases on Bangkok Books website first: http://www.bangkokbooks.com/ on the 13th of February and then will trickle into book stores by weeks end. It is always difficult in Bangkok to know exactly what stores will have it. This book, unlike ECHO POOL, will not be written under Jonathon Siminoe, but instead will be authored by SIM. Using a pen name has been somewhat liberating. Of course people know its me, but the SIM style of writing will be very different from my literary approach because the focus will be magic, suspense, action, and a touch of wonder.
The plan is to produce 5 Journeys of the Astropaths books. We already are in the process of completing the second book and I am very happy with the progress of the action and development of the characters. We are currently scheduled to release LEARNING TO SEE in the summer of 2008.
